Kpelle (Guerze) Nyamu mask, Liberia.

This “Nyamu” mask is from the Kpelle (Guerze) people in Liberia and southern regions of Guinea. Typical for this type of masks is the long simple nose, curled iron pins on the brow (Usually 3) and articulated jaws. The mask has thick encrusted layers of sacrifice substances on top of the head and partial on the rest of the mask. The mounting holes on the mask and the jaw are square shaped.
