Rare Dogon Sono (Ka) Antelope mask, Mali

Rare Dogon Sono (or Ka) Antelope mask. Made in medium hard wood. Geometric patterns painted with pigment colors on face sides and back side of horns. Deep carved elliptical face with a long central nose ridge from top to bottom of the face. Rhomb formed horns with carved lines on lower part of the horns. Iron arrow fixed on top of head between the horns.

Provenance:  Collection artist Hardy Strid (1921-2012) Sweden, bought 1979 from Gallery Arts D´Afrique, Copenhagen Denmark. Exhibited 1988 at "Före Picasso" catalogue number 8, Liljewalchs Art hall, Stockholm and Louisiana Museum of modern art, Denmark, 1989. 

Two other masks in the same style and probably  same carver: Sotheby´s Paris 2007, lot 25 (pf 7006) and Loudmer & Poulain, Paris, lot 35, 18 December 1975.
