Ai Cula Ni Bokola "Cannibal" Fork, Fiji Islands
$0.00
This is a ritual Ai Cula Ni Bokola fork from Fiji Islands used by attendants to feed Chiefs in ritual feasts. Chiefs were not allowed to touch food due to their holiness. The handle on this fork is very unusual and very stylized, in form similar to ritual Fijian spears. The pommel on the handle has the same form as Fijian I Ula Tavatava clubs. Classic carved pattern on the handle. Nice patina with signs of use in shifting colors and partly smooth worn down carved pattern on handle. Early 20th Century.
