A unique Carl Malmsten dining group with 8 chairs, 1936.

$0.00

A unique dining group with 8 chairs designed by Carl Malmsten for Stockholms stads hantverksförening 1936. Fabricated by the Swedish master cabinetmaker Hjalmar Wikström. Made in flame birch and oak with intarsia in birch. Table and one chair signed with Hjalmar Wikströms name tag in metal. This Malmsten group is not at all typical for his 1930´s design, much more playful with a mix of influences and in many ways predict the coming European 1940´s furniture design. Original drawings in Carl Malmsten archive and Stockholms hantverksförenings archive.

H. 74 cm,    D. 98 cm    L. 128, 182,5 or 237 cm.
