"Swedish Modern" dressing table, Einar Dahl, 1939
"Swedish Modern" dressing table, Einar Dahl, 1939
A "Swedish Modern" style dressing table designed by Einar Dahl 1938, executed by the master carpenter Hjalmar Wikström. Made in pear wood and brass. This table model was part of a bedroom group that was rewarded with a second place in Hantverkets interior furniture competition 1939. This table is until today one of two known produced examples of this model. Our table differs a little from the one exhibited, it has no handles on the drawers and more brass decoration on the mirror. Actually a much better design and a more decorative furniture.
See copies of two drawing sketches from Stockholms craft associations archive and a photo from the competition in FORM no. 5, 1939.
Litterature: Our table is published on page 445 in the book “SWEDISH MODERN” by Hedvig Hedqvist, Christian Björk & Eric Ericsson. Publisher: Orosdi-Back, 2018.
