Excellent collection of 15 hunting arrows from the Chokwe people, Angola/Zambia. 14 with various types of iron arrowheads and one with a wooden cone arrowhead for bird hunting. Age: Second quarter of 20th Century. Very nice condition and patina. Beautiful sculptural forms, very decorative, but all had special functions for bowhunting. Custom made stand.
Provenance: Doctor Bertil Örndahl (1923-2012). Örndahl worked as a doctor in many countries and travelled a lot in Africa, SE Asia and PNG in the 1960´s and collected many items during his travels. He bought this group of arrows during his period working as a doctor for the Swedish UN in D. R. Congo 1961.
