A classic 19th Century Bete mask with much patina of use. 35 cm
Provenance: Rolf de Maré. He started and was the leader of the Swedish Ballet in Paris, 1920-1930. He grounded 1933, in Paris, the worlds first dance museum. Maré was also a collector of modern art, He donated a lot of his fantastic collection to Moderna Museet in Stockholm. He travelled around the world and collected dance related items. 1953 he grounded a dance museum in Stockholm.
