An excellent Kuba pipe with finely carved details on the beautiful pipe head, see for example the carved larynx. The shaft with a classic carved design that are identical with some other very old Kuba pipes. A nice detail is the pipe cleaner in bone attached to the pipe with a woven fibre ribbon. Stunning age and wear patina.
Provenance: Collection Arthur Alfred Biwer, 1936-2021, Luxembourg. Biwer worked for oil companies in Congo during the 1960-1970´s.
