Akua ´ba fertility doll, Ashanti, Ghana

$0.00

A Excellent Akua ´ba fertility doll from the Ashanti people in Ghana. This doll is made by a known carver and we have attached two photos of two other examples by the carver. (photos from Sothebys). Most typical is the patterned eyebrow and the deep carved ears and the deep carved line from the shoulders down between the breasts and the V-shaped pubic carving. This figure has a very nice scarification carving on the back and an absolutely stunning carving on the meeting between the head and the neck on the backside.

H. 31,2 cm, W. 12,3 cm
