Large and rare spoon from the Ubangi province in D. R. of Congo. Possible Ngbandi people

A similar spoon is published in the book “ Spoons in African art” 1991, Lorentz Homberger, Ezio Bassani, Museum Rietberg. In the book called a fang spoon, but recently information and reference examples place this type of spoons in the Ubangi area of D. R. Congo. Another very similar spoon in the collection of the Royal Museum for Central Africa, inventory number: EO.0.0.4238.

Provenance: Peter von Busch (1935-2016), Art Historian, Ethnologist, Museum chief for the Naval Museum in Karlskrona, expert in the Swedish Antique roadshow "Antikrundan". Started to collect Tribal art in the 1950´s.
