A classic 19th century "Povai" pole club from Tonga Islands. The club is completely covered with carved traditional geometric patterns and some small carved crescents and possibly birds. It´s so many patterns and nearly no repeating of any pattern. The rounded flared top is clean, without carving. The patina of the club is dark brown nearly black and glossy from age and use. Made in ironwood.
