Toby Brown Tjampitjinpa (c 1920-1986) was an artist in the Papunya Tula artists group from mid 1970´s to late 1970´s. He was a member of the Aboriginal Arts Board. The Papunya artists paintings come from the Dreaming and are both part of the physical world and part of the Dreaming. The Dreaming explains how the landforms appeared and people were created by the Dreaming. The Western Desert art movement began at Papunya and was the start of the contemporary Aboriginal art.
