Anthropomorphic male figure, C. 1900, carrying a snake (python) around neck. A figure that could be a snake cult charm and possibly for the snake god Oshunmare.

Oshunmare, the rainbow serpent, representing cycles, transformation, wealth and continuity, connecting the heavens and earth. The figure is from Yoruba-Nago peoples in Dahomey today Republic of Benin. Several figures carved in this form, style, size and painting in International Museum collections are collected in the time period 1880´s to early 1900´s.
